One of the most challenging aspects about being at my parents house is the food situation. Let me outline for you what has happened so far:
Tuesday: Not bad at home but went to an amazing bar that serves hot dogs with exquisite topping and fries with imaginative dipping sauces. Mmmmm...
Wednesday: High calorie, delicious, cereal for breakfast. 2% Milk (that's true for the whole week). Mom bakes cookies. Waffles for dinner.
Thursday: More high-cal cereal. There are still cookies. Dad gets KFC fried chicken for dinner.
Not to mention the fact that they have SO MANY SNACKS HERE. My house has zero snacks, and there's a reason. I am doing pretty well so far, other than the cookies and the fact that I don't have control over dinner. I had my mom pick up my usual cereal, Fiber One 80 calorie, and I am eating my usual lunch. If I can keep my hand out of the cookie jar and control myself at the FIVE family-function-smorgasbords my weight might not skyrocket. I need to come up with a plan for these smorgasbords...
- 2 caloric drink maximum. If I turn the wine into a spritzer with diet sprite this number can be flexible.
- stay away from appetizers! The cheese plate is trouble. there is better food to come. IF there is a delectable dip of some sort, have a taste or two but don't go crazy.
- eat salad before meal if available.
- don't eat anything you don't feel like eating--no one is going to notice you didn't try their dish.
- rolls are unnecessary
- beware of stress-eating. Make sure to enjoy what you're eating and not just shovel things in because of social anxiety.
This is a test, this is only a test
